NICKI

Velvety knitted fabric manufactued as handle plush on circular knitting machines. The small handles (loops) are sliced and shorn in a velvety way (hence even shear plush). Handle plush without shorn handles: Frottee. In contrast are velvet and toweling fabric. Under the name „Nicki”, sweaters from shear plush became famous in the 50s in Germany after they were sold worldwide before. Nicky Chini, from Milan, who also produces high-quality ties, scarfs and dressing gowns, created and patented them already in 1938. In the meantime Nicki (with changed typing!) has become the common description for the velvety knitted fabric.
